Using Promotional Gifts To Increase Brand Recognition and Grow Your Business

Promotional gifts campaigns have become an key part of the sales process in recent times, especially for corporate and business clients. Within most office and workshop environments you will find a plethora of gifts and promotional items and this is especially prominent within distribution channel partners and clients where the supplier is vying for brand recognition and “eye-time”.

But why are promotional gifts so popular these days? Official research shows that business gifts tend to be seen almost five to six times in any working day. Within an open-office environment they may be seen by any key decision maker, influencer and potential prospect. Cumulatively this can have an almost critical-mass effect.

So how do you use business gifts to stimulate sales activities? Well it all comes down to giveaways. With some creativity in concept and the right promotional theme, promotional gifts can be used as rewards, giveaways and prizes for almost any strategically targeted campaign. Promotional items are volume-price related and the most popular tend to be products including promotional mugs and promotional pens. On most office desktops you can find an array of such items.

The key here is to choose items that are different and again you can take a range of approaches. For example, when considering promotional mugs, choose something with a little more creative flair such as a ‘heat and reval’ type. This type of mug appears to be black but when filled with a hot liquid, the rise in temperature reveals the hidden image underneath. As the mug cools, the image fades away – and this repeats every time the mug is used. You can imagine the fun that can be had with this type of product. Promotional pens can also offer some unique options. The key is to find one that the client will value and keep – something they can perhaps refill themselves rather than just giving them a low-cost giveaway.

For maximum impact consider combining gifts into a set which can be built-up over time during a campaign, as rewards for reaching sales volume targets or some other promotional objectives. Here off course you can start with fairly low-cost items that rise in value as more points are accrued.

So what about custom items, I here you say. Well promotional mugs and pens are mass produced items and offer little in the way of full product design customisation. Consider them to be blank canvasses and unless you are looking at volume in the thousands look to your creative concept to give your promotional gifts that extra edge.
